The Pioneer Valley Gay Men's Chorus (PVGMC) has, since the early 1980s, presented a positive image of gay men to the community and provided a warm, accepting environment for gay men to create music. That tradition is rekindled under its current conductor, Lawrence McFarland. The repertoire of the Chorus highlights music from jazz, Broadway, and folk traditions. Such a selection of music helps to ensure that the broadest possible audiences enjoy attending PVGMC performances. The Chorus accepts new members on a rotating basis. We begin rehearsals each fall, which is therefore the optimal time for new members to join. Naturally, prior choral training is an asset, but it is not a requirement for membership. While many of our current members have broad background in choral singing, for others PVGMC is their first choral experience.
